Winners!!! Woodstock 5k Race Report
I woke up Saturday morning in a fog. I looked at the clock and it said 8:45 am. Could it be that my 2 1/2 yr old and I slept in? "Wait, did I miss the race?". I quickly called Dianna to find out that the race was at 10:30- plenty of time.
I rolled out of bed and prepared for the race and got my daughter all bundled up and convinced her that she wanted to go to the race because Dianna's doggies would be there. When I arrived at the race I loaded up the stroller with my running bag and baby and headed for registration where I found Dianna's hubby and the doggies. Warmed up by jogging to the start which was .5 mile uphill. Found April-Anne and John S and we were off. April and I stayed together for the first 2 miles, then I had a burst of speed and pulled ahead. Up the hill I chugged as I pulled my "rope" to the top to finish the race in a PR time of 23:40.
Dianna pulled off 1st place in our age group, I took 3rd and April -Anne placed also in her age group. It was a day of winning for the Running Chicks!

I'm Here
I guess I need to post an update on my happenings.
Last week was a running wash. The good news is that I was able to have a visit with my husband at Ft. Dix. A 6 hr ride down in the rain didn't have me jumping into my running sneakers to quick. Once I saw my hubby I wasn't willing to part for 1 min. let alone an hr to run. He of course was unwilling to do any physical activity while out on leave. So again my running took a back seat.
Let me backup some. The weekend before Thanksgiving I was able to meet up with Running Chicks and
John S. John and I did 13.1 and Dianna and April Anne went out 6 with us and turned around for the second leg. It's a tough course, lots of hills in both directions. Great for the glutes! That wrapped up my running for the week. Yes, I missed the entire holiday week of running-not even a long run!
Last night I met up with Dianna for a 6.2 mile run at UCONN and I could feel the effects of taking a week off. Today I feel the effects of Hilltop and running with a quick chick. We finished up our 10k in 50 minutes.
This week will get better- oh and the Running Chicks will be racing at the Woodstock Football Fundraiser 5k on Saturday.
